Dessert: Best Apple Fritters

1 1/3 c. sifted flour
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
2 T. sugar
1 egg
2/3 c. milk
3 apples (1 1/2 c.)

Pare, core and slice apples (tart).  Dip in fritter batter.  Cover each slice with batter.  Fry in hot deep fat (365) for 2 to 3 minutes.  Dip in confectioners' sugar.  Serve.
