Soup: Lentil Stew

1 lb. dried lentils
1 T. salt
1/4 tsp. thyme
1/4 tsp. marjoram
4 to 5 large carrots, sliced
1 large onion, chopped
2 (16-oz.) cans tomatoes
3 c. grated Swiss cheese

Wash lentils.  Put all ingredients except cheese into a crockpot.  Add enough water to fill crockpot.  Cook on high for 2 hours, stirring occasionally.  Immediately before serving, stir in grated cheese.  Makes 8 to 10 servings.
