3/4 c. water
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. baking powder
Beat egg in a cup and fill with water; add to combined dry ingredients. Put 1 quart water in a 2 or 3-quart saucepan; bring to a boil. Hold the bowl with the dough over the boiling water, dropping off the dough in as small pieces as you can from your spoon. Dip the spoon in the water often to prevent it from sticking. Let cook for about 5 minutes. Drain in colander. Serve with browned butter.
